Green juice, exercise, and a good night’s sleep are things we know are good for us. However, one crucial aspect of health we seem to constantly overlook is travel. See, many of us see travel as a luxury, rather than a necessity, but the fact is that travel is the “mother” of overall wellness.
Nutrition is broken down into two categories – primary foods and secondary foods. The secondary foods are the foods we find on our plate. Primary food are the other things that truly feed us. These things include relationships, career, spirituality, and exercise. When these things are well balanced, our diets seem to follow. Think back to a time when you were in love. Did you eat much? Probably not. You were so filled with the joy of being in love that you could easily skip a meal or two without even realizing it!
So how does this tie into travel? Well, travel encompasses the primary foods. Relationships have been rekindled, healed, and celebrated through travel. People take much needed breaks from their unfulfilling careers with travel. Travel is spiritual, giving one an increased connection to others and self. And finally, I’m sure you’ve heard of yoga retreats….exercise while traveling. Other great health benefits of travel are, it promotes heart health, relieves stress, and enhances creativity.
So as you can see, the health benefits of travel are abundant! For you to live a healthy life that is full of happiness, it is so important to factor in the necessity to travel. It is in the best interest of everyone to take at least one vacation per year(two if possible). I assure you, your mind, body, and soul will thank you for it!
